About Voltage Drop Calculator

Voltage Drop Calculator calculates a result from your values and units. Check definitions, assumptions, and rounding before using it. Use it for a quick estimate or scenario comparison; results depend on the values entered, the formula assumptions, and the applicable location or date.

01

How to use it

  1. Enter a scenario you can verify, including amounts, units, dates, or rates.
  2. Run the calculation and review the result, rounding, and assumptions used.
  3. Before making a decision or filing, compare it with a contract, official rule, or qualified advice.

Frequently asked questions

Is Voltage Drop Calculator a final answer?

No. It is an estimate based on the inputs and formula shown on the page; verify it against your contract, rules, and circumstances.

Why is the result different from another source?

Inputs, rounding, fees, rates, dates, and formula conventions can all produce different results.

Can I use this for a medical, financial, or legal decision?

Do not rely on it alone. Consult a qualified professional for health, lending, tax, investment, or legal decisions.

Voltage-drop calculation method

The tool applies Ohm's law to the entered total circuit resistance: voltage drop = current × resistance. It then reports the drop as a share of system voltage and subtracts it from the source voltage for the estimated load voltage.

Example check: 5 A through 0.4 Ω gives a 2 V drop. On a 24 V system, that is 8.33%, leaving an estimated 22 V at the load.
